“Tiltable Maps” is an experimental setup to create a tangible
experience of map browsing. This work provides a user
the ability to control the map view by tilting the tabletop
in appropriate direction, which presents a new interactive
experience as compared to the traditional map browsing
in Graphical User Interfaces. The table uses accelerometers
as hardware sensors to determine the tilt-angle of the
tabletop, which in turn is used to control the navigation
of map images acquired from Google Maps.
